Human trafficking happens in many ways, and traffickers are constantly changing their methods. A common myth is that victims are kidnapped. In reality, many are tricked by false promises, like fake job ads or offers through shady recruiters.

As awareness grows, traffickers adapt and use other tactics. One is the “lover boy” or “love-bombing” method, where someone pretends to be a romantic partner, using flattery and affection to build trust. In some cases, female recruiters—often victims themselves—are used to lure others in.

Traffickers may also work in pairs or send acquaintances to recruit new victims. It’s also important to know that traffickers can be males or females.
